Synopsis

The 1950’s was a time where industrialisation of small fishing villages begun, giving new hope for the simple people other than a dangerous life of fishing. They welcomed such modernisation and enjoyed electricity and tap water flowing through their households for the first time. However, such ‘luxury’ came at a hefty ‘price’. Based on a true story in Minamata, Japan, Mercury chronicles the struggle of the victims in exacting justice for this ecological and human tragedy.
